Guidelines exist worldwide for controlling bacterial concentrations in water bodies. Regularly monitoring bacterial concentrations and keeping them within a small range can significantly reduce the risk of disease outbreaks. Guidelines specify a monitoring and control protocol. This protocol requires the regular testing of bacterial levels in cooling towers using test strips.

A range of test strips is available for semi-quantitative bacterial detection in industrial and landscape water. While accuracy is limited by small sample volumes, proper operation and the use of Loeb & Co.'s miniature incubator are sufficient for trend analysis and outbreak prevention.

Test strips are packaged in sets of 10 in a carton.

The test strips have a shelf life of 6 months.

Test results can be obtained by comparing with a standard density table.
